PASTOR'S HEART

Looking back at 2010 and looking forward to 2011!

God has always done His part of the covenant and He also has been faithful in keeping it always. 2010 was a great year, more especially that we received a word from the Lord in the midst of recession at the end 2009 that He was going to restore that which the devil stole from us and also that we were going to experience divine favor. The year started with us as a church preparing ourselves in prayer and fasting for a week long seeking God. We had people joining the prayer call by the numbers. The message for first almost two and half months of 2010 was Jubilee based on text from Joel 2:25 and Leviticus 25:10.

(Joel 2:25) And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm,
my great army which I sent among you.

The Jubilee was the entire year of festival of restoration, a year of liberty. The observance of it would demonstrate Israel’s faith in God and it was a time of thanksgiving and joy in His provision. No family was to sink into depths of perpetual poverty. God meant for every family to prosper. The year of Jubilee was a type and shadow of a better Jubilee to come (Jesus is His name), the true Jubilee that God envisaged for His people. He came to restore all possessions and liberty that Adam has lost in the Garden of Eden through sin.

Our Jubilee Conference in March 20101 was a resounding success with guest speakers teaching and preaching the word of the Lord. It was a conference to be remembered. During the course of the year we also had the opportunity to have international preachers gracing our church such as Bishop Kenneth Ulmer and Bishop Charles Blake both from Los Angeles, California USA. The Marriage seminar, children seminar, Women of Faith conference, Men of Faith Seminar and Youth Conference all went well and special recognition to the Marriage and Men Seminars which were held for the first time in the history of our church.

Through God’s grace and help, we have also managed to set up a Building fund, start a cell group ministry and set up the marketing team to help us in our goals as a church. Overall, 2010 was a good year for our church overall, even though it had its own challenges.

I keep saying and I am going to repeat this year that if we put God at the centre of our lives, He will definitely also take centre stage in our everyday engagements. Let us all support each other, carry each other up and do the work of the ministry.

What about 2011?
We have to be consistent and committed to what we already know from the word such as walking by faith, obedience to God, praying always, spending time in the word, walking in love so forth and we will experience the glory of God in 2011. We will continue to experience overflow, growth and exceedingly multiply just like the children of Israel in the country of Goshen.

(Genesis 47:27) And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

Let us do our part of the covenant as God is always faithful to His part. Our future is bright in God and let us raise our hopes up and God will not disappoint us.

In 2011 we would be looking mainly at these focus areas:
1. Sustainable growth of the church through evangelism and other means.
2. Giving ourselves to the ministry of the word and prayer
3. Acquiring Land and starting to build a sanctuary
4. Raising leaders in various areas - Building relationships through ministry involvement and discipleship
5. Effective on your face excellent church
6. Minimum 20 home cells
7. Community Outreach and involvement through House of Stephen

With God on our side we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Your commitment to the work of God will not go unnoticed. Your days of heaven on earth are here. Stir yourself up. We are in for a great time of Overflow, growth and multiplying exceedingly this year. Praise God forevermore.
